BlackBerry

Yea, it is on the bottom of the list. It is not even on the list.

The professor was kind enough to rub the obvious in. "Skritter doesn't run on Blackberry."

Apart from that, are some of you BlackBerry users? What applications are you using to learn Chinese?

Do you know if it possible to have use the phone in English and be able to use a pinyin input method?

Elwin   October 27th, 2011 4:53a.m.

You can google 黑莓输入法(下载) and download one of these input programs that come up, although it seems the popular Baidu and Sogou don't have one for the Blackberry.

My solution with my Blackberry has been to resolve to never buy one again.

Sorry if the Professor came off as snarky there. It's hard to fit the help blurbs in a compact space.

Not at all! I knew I wouldn't be able to Skritter with a BlackBerry before I got it. I just did not realize it is so Chinese unfriendly overall.

They could at least try. A BB makes sense here, where our internet is very expensive and I am not disappointed with the Torch in general, but the lack of any Chinese language support is flabbergasting.

I have a Torch too and installing the chinese input methods wasn't easy. But it works now and I do a lot of sms-ing with my teacher almost daily.

aharlekyn   October 28th, 2011 9:19a.m.

How did you do it eventually?

Alex444   October 28th, 2011 4:09p.m.

I searched Blackberry Desktop software through,at some point I needed to claim I live in Taiwan :), at which point I lied I did live there :). I remember being mad with them then.
I really can't recollect exactly how I did it, only remember that to have a proper choice of input languages and fonts I had to select my location. I understand that's a poor help, you just try to search BB help materials on their website, or write an angry request directly to them!
