I just started using Netflix, and sometimes I like to Skritter whilst watching a movie. There's no problem when I'm practicing tones or definitions, but when I try to practice writing, it's difficult to use the writing tablet because the cursor keeps going across to the video screen and it's tough to keep it on the Skritter screen.

Does anyone have any tips for this ? When I use a mouse to practice writing and watch a video at the same time, there isn't any problem, but when I try to use the writing tablet it become to difficult and I just end up using a mouse.

If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. Thanks !!

Awhile back didn't you use a browser app to limit your time on certain distracting pages so you could focus more on Skritter? Netflix maybe also fall under the distraction category :)

I'll have to give it a look, perhaps there is a setting to disable mouse responses from interfering with your movie. I don't really know though, I can listen to music and Skritter, but definitely not watch a movie effectively.

Yes, that was me. Good memory !!

Let me know if you think of any way to make this work out better. I think I do better with Chinese when I'm only half-paying attention

I watch YouTube etc. movies or talk shows quite often while Skrittering on a Wacom tablet on Windows 7. I have no problems at all. Except feeling even more guilty about calling this "studying" :-)

Try two different browsers... Maybe open Netflix in Firefox and Skritter in Chrome. If you're dedicated into your Skritter browser it shouldn't jump over to your Netflix browser....

oh sorry, didn't see it was Netflix, I have no experience with that, it's not available in my current countries.

Bohan, have you applied all the settings from the Wacom settings guide?

http://www.skritter.com/wacoms/settings

You should also limit the Wacom cursor input to only one area of the screen, so that it can't reach to the video area.

Bohan   July 10th, 2011 5:57p.m.

@rashphoto That's a good idea. I tried it and it works better now

@nick Yeah, I applied all of the settings and I think I did everything properly. When you say "limit Wacom cursor input to only one area of the screen", do you mean that the pen should only touch one side of the writing tablet, and not the other side ? So, if I have two browsers open, and the one on the left is Skritter and the one on the right is a Netflixs movie, my pen should only be touching the left half of the writing tablet, right ?

Yes, but there's a setting buried in there where you can change the mapping, such that your whole tablet corresponds to just the left side of your screen.
